Located in the heart of Clementon, NJ on 1 Gibbsboro Rd., sits Harpers Pub. This Historic structure was once the site of the Clementon Hotel back in the 1800’s. Three years ago, Harper’s was sold and the new ownership decided to change up what it was offering to the community. No longer your typical Irish Pub, Harpers now offers a selection of craft bottles and drafts. One might say that the new owners of Harper’s are taking a big step in their mission to bring better beer to an area considered by many to be a desert for good beer. As I sat and talked with Mark Shernoff, owner of Harpers, about his vision for the pub it was clear that he shared the same desire of NJCB to bring better beer to the area and to focus on Jersey breweries. He is also very conscious of the hurdles facing those on the fence about craft beer. “As long as you don’t cripple them on the price, I think people will be willing to try something different”. The folks at Harpers are committed to welcome those new to the craft beer scene with open arms. The bartenders will often offer up suggestions or recommendations for those who are willing to try something new (If you see me at the bar, I will also). On Mondays, Harper’s offers $1 off craft beers, and shortly beer flights will be available.
Harper’s also has revamped and expanded its menu. Along with your standard pub fare, you can also order a variety of unique burger and sandwich selections as well as seafood. Harper’s also has a food challenge that you can complete to get your photo up on their wall of fame. Live music fans should check out their site for upcoming live performances on their stage adjacent to the bar area.
