We have partnered with Cavalry Brewing and Olde Burnside Brewing to have a UKONN Brew Night on May 22nd. Being that both breweries are from Connecticut and they each brew from an English (Cavalry) and Scottish (Olde Burnside) tradition, we thought we would have a play on words/letters with this one. To introduce people to Connecticut breweries and, obviously, the traditions these breweries are steeped in I am confident you can figure out the acronym. Mike McCreary (owner/brewer) from Cavalry and Case McClellan (owner) from Olde Burnside will be on hand at 6pm to discuss their beers.

As usual I don’t like to do anything ordinarywhen it comes to beer events. I was able to pick up Green Jack Brewery from Lowestoft, England for our UKONN Brewing Night. I decided it would be fun to get some actual English brews to bas as a comparison to what Olde Burnside and Cavalry are doing. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get any rare Scottish brews. When I walk on water I will. So, we are adding the following to our UKONN Brewing Night:

Check this brewery out. Pretty cool history. It is located in a small fishing village on the lower east coast of England.

I ‘m the current President of Ocean County Home Brewers club. I was talking to Jason, the head brewer at Rinn Duin, recently and he told me I should get in touch with you guys and girls to maybe help spread the word. We’re still in our fledgling phases but new members are always a good thing. Between all of our members we have well over 50 years of experience and it’s the only club in the ocean county area to my knowledge. We’re planning on having events in the future and currently having our first in-club brewing competition.

We meet every second Tuesday of the month at the Tipperary Pub in Lakehurst (NJCB friendly!) starting around 7:30pm in the Whiskey Room.
