Jon Ewald, the race director for the Flying Fish 5k (flyingfish5k.com) coming up this September 6th in Somerdale, sent over this email.
The race kicks off at 10am on September 6, and is coupled with the annual Somerdale Day festivities, and starts and ends in front of the lovely new Flying Fish Brewery. At the finish line runners will enjoy a beer in the beer garden, a variety of lawn games including what we call life size beer pong, cornhole and canjam as well as great food options, live music a carshow and vendors.
A little bit of background on us, Tiburon Endurance Sports is our company, our flagship race is the Oddyssey Half Marathon (oddysseyhalfmarathon.com) in Fairmont Park, now entering its 6th year. The Oddyssey is a boutique race in that we cap registration at 3500 runners, keeping it small, fun and focused on the runner. The Flying Fish 5k is second in our new series Great American Brewery Runs (GreatAmericanBreweryRuns.com), the Fox Trot 5k at Sly Fox was the first this spring. We have several more races lined up which we have yet to announce, including a couple breweries you talk about on your website.
The Flying Fish 5k as with all of our races is professionally timed, professionally managed and ends in a great beer and a nontraditional medal. For this race we have made custom beer mugs, with a accompanying custom metal coaster. We will have a sample of the beer mug up on twitter shortly and posted the picture this morning of our finishers coaster.
Aside from all the fun and great beer, each race supports a local charity. For the Oddyssey we partner with the Students Run Philly Style, which is an after school mentoring program that helps at risk youth in the city take up running and provides coaching support and even shoes. For the Fox Trot we partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Team in Training. For this race we have partnered with 2 great organizations, LIfeUnchained and AQUA Corp. Both groups focus on helping underserved populations achieve their dreams.
Since you have a large following we are happy to offer a discount ($5) to your loyal members if the use the code NJCraftBeer when registering.
