If you’re reading this site, it’s likely that you love a good beer. But if you’re like me, you also want to have some great food with your pint.
Enter HopsScotch, the newest addition to the Jersey City scene. Located on the corner of Washington & Christopher Columbus (where the Pizzeria Uno used to be, enter next to Five Guys), HopsScotch is a true Gastropub. Dedicated to having “40 scotches, 40 on tap, and 40 bottles” available, two days after they opened they’re already halfway there – by the time you read this, likely much further along. The scotches are already in place, including classics like the peaty Lagavulin, the smooth Balvenie Doublewood, and Johnnie Walker Blue, amongst others. On draft so far, they have North Coast PranQster, Allagash White, Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, and B Nektar Zombie Killer Mead amongst others. The bottle list is in the works as well, featuring Belgians, Bombers and Boutiques – can’t wait to see.
But the best thing about this place might be the food. Featuring Executive Chef Nick McCoy, brought in from Koi at Bryant Park Hotel. He’s been featured on the Today Show and Good Morning America and has started to create a diverse foodie-esque menu. I ordered the BBQ wings – wow, they might have been the best I ever had, just tangy, flavorful, juicy, with a great homemade blue cheese. Other people eating nearby were having the same reactions to their foods.
Speaking with the founder Luke Gomez, he told me that he’s “looking to take craft beer to another level” with “unreal food.” And based on what I see, with the beer-infused food menu, they’re well on their way.
The address is 286 Washington Street, Jersey City.
Meh. Avoid at all costs unless they get their act together.
Not sure why you posted this. Need examples kiddo.
