Our Musical Guests::
THE SLACKERS-
The Slackers are a classic American band that is equal parts grit and grace. Their slow rise against the odds is a story of perseverance and a belief in their musical vision, what Vic likes to call, “Jamaican Rock N Roll.” While they have been influenced, and even personally taught by Jamaican Ska/Reggae originators, like the Skatalites and the Upsetters (Original backing band for the Wailers), the band sees its music as an extension of the traditions of the United States. This band is equally appreciative of old Blues, Country, 60s Soul, Rock, and Rn’B as it is of Reggae, Rocksteady, Dub, and Ska. It is as if the Rolling Stones or the Yardbirds had grown up on Bob Marley as well as Muddy Waters.THE SNAILS
The Snails are an eclectic act specializing in various forms of Jamaican music, blended with ragged 50’s rock ‘n’ roll and the sweet sounds of American soul. The band is fronted by Todd Fausnacht on lead guitar, complemented by Tim Hildebrand on rhythm guitar. The driving beats spring from the rhythm section comprised of Josh Parry on drums, Ben Parry on bass, and Kyle Williams on organ. Though Fausnacht’s vocals lead the group, it is not uncommon for the voices of all five members to come together in cascading harmony.METROPLEX
The dramatic vocals, ‘wall of noise’ guitars, and energetic percussion of Metroplex lend a truly original and emotive sound to this sought after Philly based band. Guitarist Matt Hanemann and Vocalist/Bassist Jack Kerrigan have been working together in several different bands for for the better part of the last decade, including time in the Philly based pop-punk band Khrissy. In early 2001, this talented duo teamed up with long-time friend and explosive drummer, Fred Bohlander, himself a vetern as well on the Philadelphia music scene.Looking to such bands as The Police, Jawbreaker, The Pixies, Fugazi and Leatherface, this trio has created an intoxicating sound of their own; powerful melodies, unique hooks, and lush interludes that come together and create a truly unique sound.
Invite your friends to this. The event is FREE and All Ages/21+ to drink.
