Get Real NY is TOMORROW and SUNDAY!

getrealNY

Just across the water from New Jersey are two spots recently know for their amazing craft beer selection.  Philly and NYC and later this month, Get Real NY is happening!  Get Real NY is a wonderful idea for those actually into craft beer and more important homebrews and cask conditioned real ale.  Get Real NY is the brainchild from a few beer and wine people from around New York.  Patrick Donagher from Rattle-n-Hum and Andy Freedman from Wined & Dined work really hard to put this amazing event on it’s not like your typical meathead, fistpump, get shitfaced drunk beer fest.  It’s an education in beer but paired with great local food and even better people.

Get Real NY is focused on cask conditioned beers is the term for unfiltered and unpasteurised beer which is conditioned (including secondary fermentation) and served from a cask without additional nitrogen or carbon dioxide pressure. Cask ale may also be referred to as real ale, a term coined by the Campaign for Real Ale, often now extended to cover bottle-conditioned beer as well.  More info can be found here about casks.

Get Real NY has a bunch of local food vendors like Mexicue, Rick’s Picks, Frites ‘n’ Meats and Luke’s Lobster just to name a few and there are a few sessions to pick from to make the event even better.  There are 2 Saturday and 2 Sunday sessions and a VIP session for each day as well.  I’ll be attending the Saturday sessions and really looking forward to a few of the beers below.  Oh yeah, make sure you check out some of my friends homebrews.  You won’t be disappointed.  Oh yeah, I also forgot, crazy amount of beer celebs will be on hand like Dr. Bill, Bill Covalski, Shane from Sixpoint, Scott Vaccaro, i can go on.
