The backyard of our brewery has a mulberry tree that drops its fruit in the first days of summer. We moved into our building in early summer 2011, tracking a bright purple path through our new home with every laden step. It was then we decided if mulberry was going to get that deep into the brewery, it probably should get into a beer as well. Stealing a process from Berliners, we let the lactics in a wheated mash sour up to a green apple/lemon level, accentuating the bright side of the mulberry profile. Meant for quaffing when there is no reason to avoid direct sunlight on balmy summer days, drink Monkey Chased the Weasel because there is more sun than moon at the top of summer.

Battleship New Jersey (Camden Waterfront, Camden, NJ) June 22, 1-5pm. The Garden State Brewers’ Guild puts on a great beer festival on Battleship NJ every summer. Monkey Chased the Weasel Release (Carton Brewing Tasting Room) June 23, 12-5pm. Stop by our tasting room starting June 23 for a taste of our newest small batch, Monkey Chased the Weasel.

Brew at the Zoo (Turtle Back Zoo, 560 Northfield Ave, West Orange, NJ) June 29, 6-9pm. Carton Brewing will be pouring Boat Beer and Monkey Chased the Weasel at Turtle Back Zoo.
