Amanti Vino Oktoberfest, a recap

Amanti Vino, Montclair

The Amanti Vino Oktoberfest at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair was a benefit for Intensive Therapeutics, a non-profit organization that provides group and individual occupational therapy services to children with special needs. Last year they raised over $40,000 for this great cause. This year I had the privilege of attending as a VIP. The benefit of spending the extra cash to get VIP status is that you have a private section in the balcony with a buffet, and some really top class beers.

The VIP Beers 2011

Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Black IPA

Innis and Gunn Rum Cask

Brooklyn Sorachi Ace

Brooklyn Black Ops

Long Trail Triple Bag

Sierra Nevada Life and Limb

Great Divide Belgian Style Yeti

I wont list all of the other beers that were at the oktoberfest but the highlights were:

Wolavers Organic Coffee Porter

New Holland the Poet

Weyerbacher Double Simcoe

A bunch of Ommegangs, Unibroues, Ayingers and a good share of German Oktoberfests. Bernard from Unibroue was there as well as Brendan from NJ Beer Co.

In all it was a great event with a great cause. Food was fantastic featuring german style sausages and roasted pork. The band was fun, and just walking around drinking some fantastic beers and talking to some great people was worth it. Next year they hope to have an even bigger event and raise more money for charity.

Don’t forget to keep in the loop with them by joining the Amanti Vino beer club, where $20 a month gets you some fantastically rare beers and first dibs on any classes, tastings or special releases that come out. Hope to see a big group of NJCB guys at the Oktoberfest next year!

Amanti Vino is located at 30 Church St., Montclair and online!
