Beer for Babes fall and winter events

Tara sent us over the Beer for Babes fall and winter events. Here they are below.

(Next week!)
11/10 Visit to NJ’s First Brewery in a Dry Town; 7PM, Devil’s Creek Brewery, Collingswood, PAYGO (with a 15% discount on flights and pints)

It took 200 years for South Jersey’s charming Collingwood to allow a liquor establishment within its borders, and it took Kathy Abate and her husband to pry open the laws to site their brewery there. During our private visit, Kathy will guide us through the brewery and sample her beers with us. Located on a busy corner of the busy town, Devil’s Creek serves as a shining example of how a brewery can positively impact a community. Let’s support them and kick off the long weekend right! Bring some non-perishable food to donate to the South Jersey Food Bank for Thanksgiving. Optional dinner afterwards at a local restaurant (some of New Jersey’s best). Email tarashawne1@gmail if you’re interested, as I think we may need a reservation. If I get a good response, I’ll put some options on Facebook.

(Coed, in partnership with Shore Point Distributors)
11/11 Ice Cream, Chocolate, New Belgium and Rodenbach, 4-9PM; Woodbridge/New Brunswick, PAYGO

This is a two-parter; come whenever you can.

Eat Chocolate with the Rodenbach Rep; 4-6PM, Joe Canal’s, Woodbridge, FREE
The Rodenbach rep and I will be pairing chocolates with four draughts, which is pretty crazy, as you never see Rodenbach on tap. Beer list: Alexander (first brew in 17 years), Caractère Rouge, Foederbier, Fruitage
Eat Ice Cream with the New Belgium Rep; 6-9PM, Hub City Brewhouse (formerly WOB), New Brunswick, PAYGO
Ice cream social featuring New Belgium Fat Tire, New Belgium La Folie, New Belgium Rampant and a special collaboration, as well as Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream!
(We have a date!)
11/19 Visit New Jersey’s First Barley Malt Farm and Glasstown Brewing; 12PM-4PM, Rabbit Hill Farms, Shiloh, FREE, unless you’re carpooling, Glasstown Brewing, Millville, PAYGO

We’re in for a treat when we visit NJ’s first barley malt farm, Rabbit Hill. Fifth generation family farmer Hillary Bakker Barile is growing barley for local brewers and distillers and she’s going to show us around and tell us about micro-farming and the craft malting industry. Then we’ll hopefully (depending on availability) taste some beers made with her barley or at least taste beer made with similar barley.

The tour of the farm is about 12pm. After the tour we are set to go to Glasstown Brewery by 2pm. We can provide transportation to a few people. It’s on first come first serve basis. Jenine Clancy and Dee Sinha will be the drivers. If you’re interested in driving and willing to take some people in your car, let us know. The total cost per person would be the flights of beer and gas.

(Put it on your calendar!)
12/4 2nd Annual Hoppy Holidays Craft Bazaar at Flying Fish, Somerdale, 12-4PM, PAYGO

Last year was such a success we’re doing it again. Come do some holiday shopping at Flying Fish as more than a dozen beer-related vendors sell their wares. Think jewelry made with beer labels, bottles melted into ashtrays, artisan beard-grooming supplies (okay, so this one’s a little bit of a stretch but the bearded brewer stereotype is real, people!), etc… Many of last year’s vendors are returning, and we’ll have some new ones, too! This is a fun family event that’s produced in conjunction with the Geeky Beer Gal. Happy dogs welcome. Please contact Trish at geekybeergal@icloud.com with any questions.
