A chat with Jay from Cooks Liquor,

Located on Haddon Avenue just a short distance from the famed Pour House in Westmont, sits Cooks Liquors, another business along this famed strip of land that is making sure you have access to what you love…Really, good beer.

Operated by Jay Patel for the last 11 years, Cooks has always been at the forefront of the growing demand for craft beer.  As I spoke with Jay about the direction of craft beer in New Jersey he made sure to tell me that  “ I am running out of room to hold the current selection!”. Jay has plans for expansion on his mind, as he continues to see more local breweries popping up as well as the more remote breweries, such as Lost Abbey, making their way into New Jersey for the first time.  Jay also noted that “Even the college kids are changing their palates”. With all of this in mind, Jay understands his place in the industry  and I got a sense that he has no plans on slowing down. “I feel that Haddon Avenue is putting South Jersey on the good beer map”, Jay said with a slight grin, as we reveled in all the great beer places in the area and expressed our belief that  Haddon Avenue could compete with some areas in Philly as a beer destination.
