The Italian Gourmet, as it’s called by locals, is pushing the envelope of craft beer in Galloway Township and Atlantic County – eight new taps, growler fills and (soon) flights, 4 7 oz beers served on paddles that general manager Justin Lucas is in the process of having made.
Started the evening with a Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye after asking bartender Mike Taylor his opinion. Next selection was a Yard’s GW’s Tavern Porter : “Doesn’t move that fast. It’s like a single-malt scotch, either love it or hate it.”
I loved it.
Here’s Gourmet’s current list of craft on draft : Victory Headwaters IPA, Troegs Troeganator, Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye, Sam Adams Boston Lager and its current seasonal Alpine Spring, Great Lakes Brewing Co’s Elliot Ness Amber Lager, Yard’s GW Tavern Porter, Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA and Raison D’Etre, Flying Fish Grand Cru Winter, Harpoon Brewing Co’s Celtic Ale. Brooklyn Brewing Dry Irish Stout. Blue Moon Spring Blonde Wheat.
Upcoming changes : Troegenator is going to kick and be replaced by Troeg’s Pale Ale; Flying Fish Grand Cru Winter is going to be replaced by Red Fish.
Bottled craft beers currently offered by Gourmet : Victory Brewing’s Storm King, Prima Pils and Golden Monkey, Blue Point’s Toasted Lager and Hoptical Illusion, Red Hook Long Hammer IPA, Stoudt’s American Pale Ale; Long Trail’s IPA and Pale Ale, Abita Purple Haze, Smuttynose Old Brown Dog, Stone IPA. And in cans, Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale and Sapporo (22 oz).
Unbranded growlers are available behind the bar for $4.00 – according to Lucas, refill prices are generally 4x the price of the chosen tap beer. Pricing for flights will be available soon and more details will follow as Gourmet keeps NJCB appraised.
