Montclair Brewery Releases City Green Farm’s Collaboration Beer

Montclair: Montclair Brewery Releases City Green Farm’s Collaboration Beer is happening at Montclair Brewery

Bobbie from Montclair Brewery said on Sunday, April 7 from 01:00 pm to 03:30 pm

On Sunday, April 7th, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Montclair Brewery at 101 Walnut Street will release its first batch of the City Green Farm House Ale. This Session IPA is a collaborative brew between City Green Farms and Montclair Brewery. A portion of the proceeds from Sunday’s beer sales will be donated to the North Jersey based, non-profit. The new brew will be sold in pints, half pints and 4 ounce flight glasses. Growler fills will be limited to one per person. Representatives from City Green will be on site from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Last month Montclair Brewery’s lead brewer, Leo, and City Green farm manager, Henry, came together along with another local home brewer and friend to create the recipe and brew its first 7-barrel batch. The City Green Farm House Ale, is a light bodied, peach blush-colored, session IPA brewed with a small amount of rosemary sprigs, from City Green’s farms, which provide faint hints of a rosemary aroma. “We are excited to have a local source in City Green, for rosemary and other fruits and plants which we can brew with in more beer styles,” says Leo.

This collaboration brew is just another sign of the partnership between Montclair Brewery and Clifton based City Green Farms. The relationship started back in September when Montclair Brewery starting donating their spent grain to the farm. “Adding the spent grain into our compost piles speeds up the decomposition process, breaking it down into amazing nutrient rich finished compost that we top dress our fields with. We will also be adding this compost to the beds where we are growing the rosemary for the City Green Farmhouse Ale, so it’s a complete cycle. We are grateful to Montclair Brewery for supporting our farm work and our programs with Sunday’s event,” says City Green farm manager, Henry Anderson.

Montclair Brewery is a new husband and wife owned microbrewery and tasting room located in Montclair’s Walnut Street business district. The business was born from the desires of head brewer Leo Sawadogo to turn his passion of home brewing into an exciting and growing business. Montclair Brewery’s mission is to build a stronger community within the Montclair and greater New Jersey and New York areas by offering an exciting place where craft beer devotees and those new to craft beer are welcomed to explore and taste a refreshing and unique selection of craft beers, all produced on-site.
