Want to be a part of the Brotherton brew crew? Brotherton Brewing Company is seeking a motivated, dependable Assistant Brewer/Cellarman to join our team.

About Us:

Brotherton Brewing Company is a family-owned and operated brewery in South Jersey that began in 2015. We operate out of an old firehouse located in Atco, NJ. Our mission is to push the limits of craft beer to create exceptional brews.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Brewer will assist in day-to-day operations including, but not limited to, beer production and recipes, keg cleaning and filling, managing raw materials and inventory, and cleaning of the entire production area.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

– Participation and execution in all brewery operations including, but not limited to: Wort Production, Hop Handling, Malt Handling, Spent Grain Handling, Yeast Management, Dry Hopping, Fruiting and Adjuncting, Transferring, Packaging, CIP, Cellaring as well as general cleaning procedures

– Strict adherence to quality control SOP’s throughout the brewing, fermentation, carbonation, and packaging phases of beer production

– Operation of forklift and various other pieces of machinery

– Strict adherence to all safety and security measures in all aspects of the workplace

– Operate and maintain equipment used throughout the production process

– Ability to participate in special events (brew festivals, beer dinners, tap takeovers, etc.)

– Maintain a clean and orderly workspace on an ongoing basis

– Assist with inventory (hops, grain, chemicals, etc.) management process

– Specialty projects as required

– Ability to monitor and accurately record data throughout entirety of brewing process

– Assist in creating new beer recipes

– Fill-in beertender/taproom staff

Qualifications and requirements:

– Must be 21+

– 1+ years of work experience in a production brewery or extensive homebrewing is required

– Ability to excel in a team environment as well as independently

– Craft beer knowledge is a must

– Flexible scheduling

– Team player, excellent communication skills, high attention to detail

– Valid driver’s license

– Ability to multitask while monitoring various brewing and production processes

– Experience operating forklift and scissor lift

– Excellent cleaning and sanitation practices

– Mechanically inclined is a plus

– Ability to diagnose and solve problems quickly and efficiently

– Experience operating and maintaining a canning line

Physical Requirements:

– Capable of lifting 55+ lbs multiple times on a daily basis and moving 165lbs as needed

– Can work in both hot, cold and wet environments

– Can work in tight areas while twisting, bending, pulling and pushing

– Can stand on concrete floors for the durations of shift (8-12 hours)

– Frequently climb ladders and stairs safely on a daily basis
