Job Description

Highrail Brewing Company, a start up in New Jersey, is looking for a brewer.
We are located in High Bridge, a town rich in history with close connections to the American Revolution and the Central Railroad Company. The brewery is located in town, surrounded by a supportive community. If you are looking for an environment in a small town that is excited about the business coming to town and want to have the opportunity to express your creativity, then come join us and help us get established and grow!

We have a 2.5 barrel NG brew house with 20 barrels of fermentation space, that will require you to be imaginative and resourceful, serving a 50 seat taproom. We plan to have 6-8 beers on tap, with a combination of flagship ales, seasonals and your limited releases.

This position is for a brewer with a positive attitude who will manage the brewery independently.

Responsibilities may include:

Maintain inventory of ingredients
Perform all aspects of wort production and fermentation
Transfer and carbonation of beer
Recipe formulation
Cleaning, CIP, and sanitization of tanks, kegs, floors, and all other areas of the brewery
Maintain documentation in an accurate and timely manner
Perform quality control and quality assurance testing
Participate in events as needed
Identify areas of improvement in the brewing process and the beer
Educating taproom staff on beer and the brewing process, assist in menu descriptions
Performing basic maintenance on pumps and electrical systems etc.

Abilities and Skills
Must be able to frequently lift 55lbs, and more on occasion
Must be able to be on your feet up to 10 hours per day, or more
Must be able to work independently with limited oversight
Strong communication and organizational skills
Computer skills that include Microsoft Office

Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
1-5 years experience in a commercial brewery
Experience and knowledge of a commercial brewing system and equipment
Completion of a brewing-science education program not required, but a plus
Flexible work schedule that may require weekend work and holidays
21 years of age and proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
