I recently attended the PourHouse 3rd anniversary party last week. The beer lineup was tremendous and way too extensive to list here, but if you are loyal follower of NJCB’s feeds, you knew exactly what was in store. They even had Abbaye de Saint Bon Chien (2010) on a hand pump for this event for which I was quick to order as soon as I settled in. I made sure to get there early and grab good seat because shortly after 6pm (when the special brews were being tapped) seating was snatched up faster than red plastic cups at a frat party. Heavy hitting brews served in 6oz vessels of pure fermented delight found their way to the refined palettes of many craft beer lovers on this evening. Judging from the buzz around the bar, you could tell patrons were most pleased in the brews they discovered or revisited. It was apparent that this party was a pretty big deal later in the evening when I began to look around and see who was actually in attendance. Seen around the bar were lots of big time craft beer aficionados, a virtual all-star lineup of industry folk, and the loyal Pour House regulars, all gathered under one roof, and one bar for one simple, united purpose: The love of a good beer. The staff at the Pour House were most gracious hosts and they all did an excellent job in their selection and service. Big thanks to Remo, Jake, Vicky, Marci, Erika, and the rest of the Pour House staff. You folks really put on a great show, and helped me totally forget how screwed up my bracket actually was.
